A FAMILY fundraising day at Harris's bar in Wetherby last Sunday raised £4,000 for 13-year-old Danny Harris who is battling a rare disease.
Wheelchair-user Danny, formally of Bickerton, was diagnosed in September 2007 with a neuro sheaf tumour - a genetic disorder that affects 1 in 3,000 people and causes tumours to grow covering nerves throughout the body.

Last Sunday’s event attracted hundreds of people and more than enough money was raised to buy Danny a new light-weight wheelchair. Danny’s dad, John Harris, said he would like to thank the community and all the local businesses who supported the event in aid of his son.
