Outstanding display earns Ripon club a medal haul at International Open

EIGHT students from Ripon's Byakko Shotokan Karate Association were selected to compete in the Shobu-Ippon International Shotokan Open 2008.
All competitors fought extremely well in these hard but well run annual championships.

The BSKA returned home with an outstanding haul of one gold, three silver and one bronze medal plus two fourth-placed competitors.

For such a small entry the BSKA finished ninth out of a possible 45 Associations entered.

The following competitors came away with trophies.

Junior Team kata (Daniel Knowlson, James Scanlon & Courtney Heugh) Gold Medal.

Daniel Knowlson Silver Medal (Kumite) Megan Knowlson Silver (Kumite). Nick Hayhurst Silver (Kata).

Megan Knowlson Bronze Medal (Kata).

Selina Baldwin also gained fourth place in Kata & Kumite.

Thomas and Paul Stephens also competed well.
