WITH just one game remaining in the Knaresborough League, Marquis Of Granby 'A' look poised to take the title for the first time.
Until last week they were tied with George and Dragon at the top of the table.
But Marquis ‘A’ registered a 9-0 win over The Hart while ‘Top House’ could only manage a 6-3 win against Marquis ‘B’.
In the Marquis ‘a’ game, Alger Asker checked ou
t in 16 and 23 darts while 25s came from Jonathan Windsor and Ian Robson.
George and Dragon went 3-0 up against Marquis ‘B’ following win from Oli Hawkridge in 23 darts, Dave Ingles in 19 and Des Cockshott.
Tony King and Martin Fennel pulled a couple of games back before Adi Shaw shot a 180 and 25 dart leg.
The first two pairs games went in favour of Top House.
But another valuable point was lost when Cockshott and Hawkridge lost their way in the last game and were beaten by Fennel and Steve Nelson.
Knaresborough Conservative Club picked up a 7-2 win at Guy Fawkes with Andy Marwood top-shooting in 19 darts for KCC.
Best for the Scotton team was Dave Ellerker in 24 darts.
The Gate celebrated a 6-3 win at the Union.
Steve Hardisty had the best leg for the Gate in 25 darts while Union’s Eddie Simson finished in 18 and 19 darts and Nick Hanslow checked out in 18 and 21, fighting off a maximum 180 from Ian Balsdon.
The Lido also clinched a 6-3 result when they visited Market Tavern. Dave Batty finished in 20 and 21 darts and Mal Farrar was in good nick checking out in 26.
Best for the Market was Martin Newton with a 24 darter.
The Harrogate leagues final Individuals qualifiers were held last week.
The four players going through the semifinals on Finals Night (see details below) are Alex Pride (Bilton Batsmen), Nick Hanslow (Claro Beagle), Carl Heptinstall (Bilton Batsmen) and Oli Hawkridge (George And Dragon).
The Harrogate League will hold the Finals and Presentation Night at Harlow Hill Club next Wednesday May 21 at 8pm.
The Harrogate Summer League is scheduled to start on Wednesday June 4.
New teams wishing to take part should contact Martin Newton at Trophies and Engraving on 507319 for an application form.
All teams should then return the application form with the correct fees to the League, on finals night.
The Knaresborough League is also proposing to start a league on Monday or Tuesday nights throughout the summer on either June 9 or 10.
New teams should contact Martin Newton on the above number or attend the finals night at the Lido on Tuesday May 27 to register their team, bringing the £25 entry fee.
