HARROGATE squash star Jenny Duncalf reached the final of the Dunlop British Women's Squash Open at Liverpool after beating Australia's defending champion Rachael Grinham.
But Duncalf was unable to repeat the dose against top-seeded Nicol David from Malaysia who took the final 9-1 10-8 9-0 in 40 minutes on Monday.

Duncalf, who plays at Harrogate Squash Club and is coached by her step-father David Pearson, the Englan
d coach, desperately tried to get back into the match in the second game.

Duncalf rallied well to wipe out at 2-7 deficit in the second game, just failing to overtake her rival who then went into overdrive in the third game in which Duncalf did not take a point.

Harrogate Squash is being given a major make-over for the new season in September thanks to a £25,000 grant from England Squash.

The grant comes at a time when current coaching professional David Duncalf is leaving the club after three years, after England Squash offered him the appointment of covering a coaching academy stretching from the Scottish borders in the north to Essex in the south.

While amiable Duncalf is looking forward to his new challenge ahead he is sad to be leaving the Harrogate club, having been the club professional for the past three years and on one occasion steered his side to the Yorkshire Premiership title in one of the toughest leagues in the country.
