BECKWITHSHAW have signalled their intent to keep up with the Division One big hitters by capturing the signing of influential all-rounder Stuart Hudson from Kirkstall Education this week.
Hudson will add some batting bulk to ‘Shaw’s already strong line-up and provide more firepower in the bowling department.

Captain Ben Quick is delighted with the mid-season recruit and hopes he can be the catalyst for a 'Shaw revival after a recent blip in form.

"He got in contact with ourselves this week," said Quick.

"He's a proven player at this level, he's won cups and leagues and he's shown that over the last few seasons. I'm sure he'll add some strength to the batting and the bowling.

"Last week our performance just wasn't acceptable. We bowled really well but our batting let us down badly to be bowled out for 95 with 18 overs to go.

"We'll be looking to bounce back and Stuart will hopefully help."

It’s been a hectic week in the Aire Wharfe League with the news Collingham have been slapped with a 26-point deduction for an inadvertent infringement of a league rule concerning a player transfer.

Toby Jacklin’s side were punished after failing to sign transfer forms with Kirkstall Education concerning first team player Rob Sharma who played one game for the Eddies last season.

The upshot means Collingham have slipped from second top in Division One to third bottom and all the teams they have played with Sharma in the side have been awarded six points.

This will be hard to take for ‘Shaw who easily beat Collingham on May 23, whereas other teams such as leaders Green Lane have benefited from the extra points after they only picked up a 4-2 winning draw on May 2.

"It's frustrating having been one of those sides to beat them 6-0," added Quick.

"The result is we've moved down from fourth to seventh but we're not that far off the top."

‘Shaw will be seeking an immediate response at Calverley tomorrow (1.30pm) after they slipped to their second consecutive defeat at home to Adel last Saturday.

James Lilley’s fine (6-62) looked to have put ‘Shaw on the road to victory as they skittled the away side for 145.
