Almscliffe tighten their hold after slaying Bilton Dragon

ALMSCLIFFE Climbers tightened their hold on Division Three this week with a good 8-2 victory over Bilton Dragon, Jim Walker 21-7 gaining the best win of the evening taking his club 14 points clear in the table.
Bilton WMC let things slip going down 8-2 at Wetherby despite a 21-9 win from Peter Kirtlan.

Wetherby once again showed excellent home form with six winners.

Things were tight as Low Harrogate C entertained Wayside Rangers.

With four winners
apiece performances from skipper John Watson 21-7, Sheila Westerman 21-7 and Stan Collins 21-9 ensured the aggregate and a 6-4 win.

Dacre Banks will have been very pleased with their 8-2 away win over Starbeck despite a strong home display from Barry Woodward winning 21-6.

In Division Four Geoff Pickering 21-2 and Lorraine Poulson 21-8 played key roles in Collingham’s 7-3 win over Bilton Dragon.

Steve Webster put in the best home performance winning 21-8.

Hannah Palmer made a good start for Starbeck 4ths winning 21-5 which was almost matched by Pateley’s Barbara Todd 21-7, Pateley eventually running out 6-4 winners. It was another excellent week for Black Swan who dominated at home to beat Dacre Banks 9-1, George Moorey the best of the night with a 21-2 win followed closely by Peter Bellerby 21-4.

Scott Stockdale and Clive Goalen were both on form for Starbeck 3rd each winning 21-9 with their team going on to win the match 7-3 over Knaresborough Foxes.

Low Harrogate D increased their lead in Division Five to 14 points after an excellent home performance gained an 8-2 win over closest rivals Bardsey Merlins.

Alan Winstanley was man of the match winning 21-5 with Stan Whitehead 21-9 Bardsey’s best winner.

A strong debut for Richard Briggs 21-8 and a good display from Brenda Rhodes 21-9 helped Almscliffe Strollers to an 8-2 victory over Low Harrogate E.

Ted Smith 21-2 and Stewart Goosey 21-4 were both in fine form for Dacre as they defeated Black Swan 7-3.

The performance of the week went to Alice Hart from Wayside Ramblers winning 21-0.

With two players missing however it wasn’t enough to stop a 7-3 defeat by Pateley Bridge.

Back in the top flight Black Swan once again chipped away at Wayside’s lead by beating Low Harrogate 9-1, Peter Nacey 21-3 and Paul Birtwhistle dominating on a difficult green.

Wayside faced a potentially tough away tie to Knaresborough Lions.

Good performances from Brian Walker 21-8 and Stuart Atkinson ensured a much needed 7-3 victory however.

Bardsey Kestrels were once again showing what a tough team they are at home beating Bilton Dragon 8-2, Alan Baldwin 21-5 and Derek Stone 21-8 getting off to a flying start.

Starbeck managed to pull one more place away from relegation via a 21-8 Cory McLeod win.

Bilton WMC proved too strong for them on the evening however with Alan Rothery 21-7 leading them through to a 7-3 victory.

Both teams were desperate for the points as Pateley Bridge hosted Dacre Banks.
