THE Knaresborough branch of the Candlelighters held a 'Love the 70s' themed charity ball in January at Knaresborough Golf Club.
120 guests danced the night away to Abba duo, Gimme, and the music of DJ John Brad. £2,500 was raised for the charity from ticket sales, donations from local businesses and an auction of favours which included a riding lesson, champagne, wine and an electric car. Organisers Carolyn Addyman, Vicky Hall, Ali Hill, Julie Addyman, Jo MacLean and Gerry Sarsfield were thrilled with the night. Vicky Hall said: "All the money raised goes towards the Children's Cancer Unit at St James's University Hospital, Leeds. Thank you to everyone who supported this worthy cause."
SCOTTON based S & B Utilities held their first company golf day, inviting 40 of their clients to join them at Knaresborough Golf Club for an afternoon of golf and a presentation dinner in the evening. Leeds Rhinos' player Ali Lauitiiti was invited along to help promote the company. He spent the afternoon graciously having his photograph taken with everyone and by everyone; as well as encouraging people to part with their money for the charity WaterAid.
