A BLACK-TIE ball helped raise funds to support good causes across Nidderdale.
The Mayor's Charity Ball 2008 was held at Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall and attended by members of the public as well as local dignitaries. Mayor of Pateley Bridge, Coun Ian Skaife, was joined by the mayors
and mayoresses of Harrogate and Boroughbridge, as well as a number of borough councillors.
The numbers were swelled to more than 120 by the residents who turned out. The night went with a swing, thanks to music from A Band Called Eric, which kept people dancing throughout.
Businesses in the area donated prizes for the tombola, which raised £380. The total raised has yet to be calculated but, once it is announced, charities and community organisations will have the
chance to submit bids for funding. Coun Skaife said: "It was great fun and enjoyed by all. A traditional black tie ball, but with a bit of fun."
