This year's Hope Ball at Rudding Park was again a huge success with the Hope Trust ladies raising a massive £130,000 in aid of ovarian cancer research and treatment.
Almost 500 guests attended the glittering ball which was elegantly themed Geisha-style, complete with glowing lanterns, ribbon dancers, operatic performers and a fortune cookie game to win a stunning pearl and diamond necklace. Generous firms Gordons LLP, Coutts and Co and KPMG were headline sponsors for the occasion which was hosted by Yorkshire's very own Linda Barker. Eighty's legend Alexander O'Neal was the celebrity act who had guests dancing to his old classics until the early hours. Together with last year's fundraising the total raised by The Hope Trust to date is £290,000. Ninety per cent goes to national charity The Eve Appeal with the remaining 10 per cent to Airedale General Hospital Oncology Unit.
