STUDENTS and teachers at St Aidan's High School have elected their representatives committee, The Senate, for the next academic year.
A total of 35 candidates stood for election and promoted their campaigns with a mixture of speeches, jokes and songs.

One student even enlisted the help of a team of acrobats from among the younger pupils at the school.

The eight successful candidates will be responsible for planning social and charity events, and will represent the views of the 700- strong Sixth Form in meetings with senior staff.

Meanwhile, Students and staff at St John Fisher's took to the polls on April 18 to choose their next heads of Sixth Form.

Pupils from the Upper Sixth were given the chance to vote, with the clear winners being Hannah Staunton and James Webster.

The new head boy and head girl will lead the sixth form for the next year, working on behalf of the centre to represent students to staff and parents.
