St Aidan's sixth formers are ready for the next round of the Young Enterprise competition. JAMES HICKMAN writes about their entry;
A group of sixth formers are set to make it big in the opening round of the Young Enterprise competition, a competition set up for schools across the UK where each school sets up their own business.

The winner is the most successful company. The
St Aidan's youngsters go by the name of Emerald Enterprise.

The project began in September 2007, when the company was set up with Samuel Thurgood taking charge as Managing Director, under the influence of head of business Mr. Illingworth.

The company had the idea of producing recycled jewellery at affordable prices and from then, the business blossomed.

They have attended trade fares and exhibitions, selling their products as well as meeting every week as a company to check progress.

They sell in school too and are now all set to enter the Young Enterprise competition, after their recent success of marketing their valentines range; in association with another school card business.

Local MP Phil Willis took interest in the project and even invested into the company share scheme!

A fully operational business, they also have their own website with an online shop, a podcast and a new exclusive range of recycled "Gold" jewellery, made from recycled gold items.

Their hopes are high for the qualifying round of the Young Enterprise competition this month.
