LAST week's Sixth Sense page carried an article by St Aidan's Emma Greatorex as she began to consider her options for university. This week, she visited a UCAS university fair to see what's on offer:
FOLLOWING on from my article last week I've since been to the UCAS fair at the Pavilions to find out more about what I could be doing next year.
It was one of those days where making the distance down to the Pavilions was, as some people describe
d it, Horrible and was not what you needed on a Friday afternoon.
Some of us (including me) came well prepared with our taxi numbers while others were making their way there. The convention had 117 representatives from many different organisations including universities, the armed forces and gap year organisations.
There were different seminars going on throughout the day giving students an insight into student life and the many different courses people could choose from.
When I got there the two rooms allocated were full of students from all over the county, all who were there to find out about higher education, and that's when I knew having a big bag wasn't a good idea especially in crowds and corridor queues.
In the end I ended up with a large selection of prospectus's and information to keep me busy over the weekend but what's good about it is that I've discovered a lot more about universities than I knew before and the courses that they have to offer and I hope other people have too .
I now have a good idea about where I am going to apply to next year and what course I want to do.
