WETHERBY High School's sixth form students spent a weekend in Paris as part of their business studies. Year 13 pupil Edward Colling writes about the trip;
32 Business, Economics and Politics students travelled to Paris last weekend for the, now annually attended, 'Your Future in Europe' Conference, which included appearances by Michael Portillo, Lembit Opik MP, Patricia Hewitt MP and Dan Germain, co-founder of Innocent Smoothies.

After travelling to Paris via the Eurostar on Friday, the group arrived just in time for a meal and to head to the Eiffel Tower for views of Paris at night. Students had the chance to view the city of Paris from above, from the Eiffel Tower, although many were left slightly disappointed that the very top level was closed.

Saturday began with the conference, and the wide awake pupils from Wetherby took up there places in the huge conference hall. The speakers were found to be entertaining, particularly Portillo and Dan Germain, who seemed to make running a multi-national business seem a lot simpler than I'm sure it is. The highlight for many came in the 'Question Time' part of the conference, when questions were asked about the Cheeky Girls along with contemporary economical and political issues.

The way back from the conference included walking along the Champs-Élysées and viewing the Arc de Triumphe, which were followed later that night by visits to Notre Dam and an eventful boat trip down the Seine.
An early start on Sunday saw the group arrive back at Leeds train station for 3:30pm on Sunday, with everyone agreeing the trip had been both highly educational and enjoyable.
