Church Fete: Whixley and Green Hammerton Church Fete will be held this Sunday, July 5 on the Green at Green Hammerton from 2pm to 4pm. This is a traditional fete with Maypole dancing by the children, guess the weight of the cake, cake stall, tombola, raffle, book stall and white elephant stall all accompanied by music from the Wetherby Accordian band. There will be tea and cakes made by the WI and plants from Johnsons of Whixley. Should the weather not co-operate we will all re-locate to Whixley
Church Services: The church service on Sunday, July 5will be at St Thomas’s, Green Hammerton at 9am, celebrating the Feast of St Thomas.

Whixley Scarecrow Festival: Whixley and Whixley Gate will be host to a very imaginative collection of scarecro
ws on Sunday, July 12. You will be able to buy a trail guide so come along, anytime between 11am and 4pm, try to spot them, pass your judgement on them and enter the prize draw. Should you get weary and thirsty there will be refreshments in the Village Hall. If you live in the village and would like to make a last minute entry, phone Val on 01423 331477.

Open Gardens: This is a good year for gardens with all the extra sunshine bringing out the best in the flowers. Whixley Open Gardens, to be held on Sunday, July 26, will be a great day out, including as it does, four gardens in the Yellow Book. Gardens are open between 11am and 5pm, admission £4.50, children free. There will be refreshments in the Village Hall as well as home-made preserves on sale and a cup of tea and a scone at Cherry Tree Cottage.

Medic Malawi Tea: Thank you to everyone who came along to take tea at Cherry Tree Cottage last month and in doing so helped to raise an amazing £525 for Medic Malawi, and especially, many, many thanks to all the helpers who made it all happen.
