YUL Brynner and Deborah Kerr brought it to the Hollywood big screen, and now Ripon Amateur Operatic Society are set to bring the much loved musical The King and I to the Harrogate Theatre stage.
The Rodgers and Hammerstein show features great songs such as Shall We Dance? and Getting to Know You, as well as scores of children processing to bow in front of the King.

It’s a tale of East meets West, featuring honour and duty, love and passion, songs that make you laugh and cry, and superb dance routines.

The Operatic Society’s version includes two strong leading parts in the King of Siam, played by Richard Emms, and Anna, the English schoolteacher, played by Cath Noland. They are regularly accompanied on stage by the sons and daughters of the King, played by local children, some of whom have parents who also in the show.

Director Phill Ruddy is creating another potential hit, following on from last year’s show, Sweet Charity, which won a number of awards.

The King and I runs every evening from Tuesday to Saturday, April 21 to 25, as well as on the Saturday afternoon.

Tickets are now available by calling 01423 502 116.
