I WRITE in connection with the bus fare concessions and the differences of opinion, on how they should be funded and from where.
North Yorkshire County Council, pay an amount for each concessionary pass holder, which is surely better than nothing at all, bearing in mind that these buses used to travel the same routes whether anybody was on the bus or not with no revenue for the journey if empty.
If the bus company was having to provide additional buses to cope with extra passengers because of the concessions they would have a case for withdrawing some services but they are getting a revenue now that they didn't get before, for doing the same journey at the same times, they also get this revenue if the bus travels empty.
If the County Council doesn't require destinations to be printed on the ticket what is the point of issuing them, why not just show your pass if requested by an inspector. People seem to have forgotten the fact that the buses used to travel virtually empty.
