From: Barbara Thompson, Stray Walk, Harrogate.
THE distance on the A61 from Killinghall to Ripon is eight miles. At 40mph the journey takes 12 minutes.

At 60mph it takes 8 minutes. However there are imposed speed limits of 30, 40 and 50mph at vulnerable sections and also several bends too severe for even an experienced driver who knows the road to tackle at 60mph.

So, Mr Pip Reynard (Letters, June 27), with your busy life and tight schedules, could you please allow say about two to three extra minutes (150 seconds) on this stretch of road?

Keep your irritation with 'elderly drivers' at bay by counting up to 150, roughly the number of accidents, so far caused by fast drivers or reckless overtaking.
