From: Coun Jean Burdett, Knaresborough Community Emergency Committee.
I WOULD like to thank the following people and groups for all their help and assistance in creating our Knaresborough Emergency Plan.
Roy Firth from Harrogate Borough Council for all his advice and support, Sean Brennan for collating all our infor
mation and his research. Ted Wilkinson from Knaresborough Fire Service for all his advise and support, John Moore and Knaresborough Lions, Mark Laycock and King
James’s School, Mr Rowbottom and Jacqui Brankin for all their assistance. Also the following companies - Travis Perkins, Paul Yates, Knaresborough Co-op and Yorkshire County Highways Maintaince Services.
Mr Firth’s practical advice and practices have been extremely helpful and informative and in the future we plan to have annual practices and updating of the scheme.
I cannot thank my fellow councillors, committee members, Knaresborough Town Clerk, Knaresborough businesses, schools and everyone who has supported Knaresborough Community Scheme enough. Without them this scheme would not be in place.
Over the past few months a group of councillors and a cross section of our community have met and under the guidance and advice given by Mr Roy Firth, Knaresborough’s Emergency Risk Scheme has been created in what has been a community scheme.
Members of the committee have researched and collated information to enable an emergency plan to develop.
Through all the research, we now have in place a scheme which prepares our town for any kind of emergency from floods, gales, heatwaves, snow or any other major disaster with advice sheets on what to do under any circumstances.
Emergency plans are now set in place should any disaster ever happen.
Business throughout the town have offered their services should there ever be a need with a reception centre and holding areas organised. Contacts with local radio hams have also been arranged should they ever be required.
Copies of the Emergency Scheme are at present being distributed throughout Knaresborough, and the Plan will also be put on the Knaresborough website.
Thank you everyone, it has been a pleasure to work with such a fantastic team
