I READ in last week’s Advertiser that Bill Fotherby is looking for new sponsors to support his ambition for a Football League club in Harrogate.

Harrogate Rugby Club is also looking for sponsors, to continue supporting its work in the community for the coming season. For the past four years, HRUFC has spent over £10,000 each year on a Community Rugby Coach going into the schools of Harrogate and District, working with the RFU’s Development Officer based at York. This money has been a combination of sponsorship matched by the RFU. Luke Bramble, the current CRC, has managed to re-introduce rugby into several local schools, and tag events have also been arranged for primary schools and children with disabilities so that they can all get involved in the enjoyment, teamwork and physical activity associated with playing a sport.

One of the main aims of HRUFC is to continue giving children and adults of all ages and abilities a safe environment in which to enjoy playing their sport and to increase the numbers of children involved when our future facilities allow it. We believe there are more local and national companies out there which share our vision of local people participating in their sport at a club with a great tradition of family involvement. Last Saturday at Twickenham there were four young players involved with the Yorkshire U20 squad who developed through the Harrogate juniors.
