From Mrs Georgina Bendelow, Beaver Scout Leader, 1st Knaresborough Scouts..
I AM most upset to find out that The Hair Bear Bunch are unable to take part in this year’s Bed Race because the form had been handed in too late.

I would have thought that as forms were available to be downloaded from the internet at the time of
our application and two weeks after, that entries were still being taken.

The Hair Bear Bunch has been running the race for eight years to raise funds for 1st Knaresborough Scouts and it is a major fundraiser. It also involves the children from the group walking behind the bed; I know for a fact that these children are going to be disappointed this year.

I have heard that other peoples entries have been refused also and find this a very hard pill to swallow when other groups have more than one bed in the race.

I have been told that the Race is open to anyone but as it is called the Great Knaresborough Bed Race, I am saddened that people from Knaresborough are being turned away.

I believe that the Bed Race is a fantastic opportunity for groups to raise money and think that those running without raising the funds for charity could perhaps consider the Fun Run instead.
