ONCE again the case for the reinstatement of the disused railway to Ripon and beyond has been aired (Advertiser, June 19).

As an ex-resident of Harrogate I have watched with dismay, as it is always immediately consigned to a dark corner of local public consciousness until the next time.

The reinstatement of the line to Northallerton would bring huge commercial and social benefits to the entire Harrogate District and is a cause that requires the fully committed support of the Harrogate Advertiser to create the level of public demand over a long period of time that would give this cause any chance of success.

It's up to you, Harrogate Advertiser, not only to start the ball rolling but to then keep the kettle boiling. Without your active support the whole idea will once again slip away.
