I REFER to the recent letters in the Advertiser regarding the problem leaving the Waitrose car park on to Victoria Avenue. One of your correspondents identified the problem as lack of view to the left where vehicles turning from Station Parade could not be seen due to the two parking spaces in the middle of the road, usually occupied.

His answer was to remove those parking spaces thus giving a clear view to the left as drivers want to turn to the right. If the council does not wish to sacrifice the two parking spaces or move them to the other side of the bollards the cheaper option would be to erect a sign to the effect that there was ‘Left turn only’. To save money they could drop one letter on the sign to "No Right turn". Would this be the common sense approach and could they act soon. It would be a tragedy to wait until there was a fatality before action is taken.
