THERE'S plenty more entertainment lined up at Harrogate Theatre for the remainder of the spring/summer season.
Highlights include the theatre’s fourth collaboration with Oldham Coliseum to show a major revival of the comedy musical Dick Barton - Special Agent.

Based on the classic 1940s BBC radio serial the spoof musical, which started last night, puts the tongue in cheek into stiff upper lip.

A dastardly plot to poison the entire British tea supply threatens the future of the nation so it’s down to the intrepid hero to try and save the day in a nail-biting, cliffhanging adventure.

Animal Farm, showing in July, is another highlight when a cast made up of people from the local community take part in what is Harrogate Theatre’s second community production.

This follows on from the success of last year’s showing of The Laramie Project.

Here’s a taste of what’s to come:

l Showing till July 12. Dick Barton – Special Agent: A fourth collaboration with Oldham Coliseum. A major revival of the comedy musical. A hilarious spoof based on the classic BBC Radio serial.

l June 30. A celebration of 20 years of cult TV show Red Dwarf with Norman Lovett and Hattie Hayridge in Double Header.

l July 18 and 19. Animal Farm: Following last year’s highly acclaimed community production of The Laramie Project, this year Harrogate Theatre will provide a platform for local performers from around the district to bring George Orwell’s classic novel to life.

Don’t forget the theatre’s own Hyena Comedy Club on July 21 with Robin Ince and Jon Richardson.
