A NEW season of recitals hosted by Ripon Cathedral Concert Society begins on Monday with the highly talented Kesh Piano Duo.
The pair – Esther Sofaer and Heejung Kim – are unique in that they sit side by side playing the same piano, adding a new dimension to works ranging from the 17th century to the modern day.

Monday’s performance at the cathedral is the first of a se
ries of monthly concerts which also includes the Henschel String Quartet, award-winning singer Christopher Maltman and violinist Ruth Palmer.

Chairman of the concert society, Brian Kealy, is understandably pleased with the line-up.

“The important thing is to have interesting performances by good performers and variety over the season – you want it to be as varied as possible,” he said.

The audience for the series of concerts, now in its 16th year, is very loyal, with people coming from as far away as Middlesbrough, says Mr Kealy, and new members are always welcome.

The Kesh Piano Duo will play works by Schubert, Ravel and Stravinsky at their concert in Ripon Cathedral at 7.30pm on Monday.

Details for all performances are at www.riponconcerts.co.uk or from Ruth Grenfell on 01765 605771. For information on joining the society contact Simon Deller on 01765 658071.
