HIGHLY-acclaimed Leeds Festival Chorus, which this year celebrates its 150th anniversary, is presenting a concert of French Choral Glories in Ripon Cathedral next week.
The concert on Saturday, July 12 features the 170-strong chorus members who, in the last six years, have made many successful visits to Ripon Cathedral in support of the Ripon Cathedral Development Campaign.

The York Guildhall Orchestra accompanies in a programme that includes Fauré’s Requiem andPoulenc’s Gloria.

Soprano soloist is Sophie Bevan, one of the rising stars of the soprano world, and the baritone is Paul Gibson from Opera North.

The concert will be conducted by Simon Wright, artistic adviser of the Leeds Festival Chorus and also principal conductor of York Guildhall Orchestra. Simon has conducted most of the major orchestras in the UK and has been seen in recent years on television conducting the English Chamber Orchestra in the Classical Brit Awards in London.

Tickets for the concert (7.30pm) are £15 - £20 (with concessions) available from Ripon Travel, 5 Kirkgate, Ripon on 01765 601689.
