DANCING is a passion for many youngsters in our region, but a career in dance and performing arts takes drive, commitment and dedication.
It takes blood, sweat and tears to achieve success – all for that standing ovation at the end of a performance. And that’s something HSAP (Harrogate St Andrew’s Players) dancer Helen Hazelgrave, knows all about.

Helen’s next show – A Chorus Line – is another to add to her already impressive resumé, and also mirrors her career in many ways.

Helen graduated from The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (The Paul McCartney School) in 2004. She went on to perform in the Paul McCartney Back in the World tour and at the opening ceremony for the Commonwealth Games. Helen has also taken part in many of HSAP’s shows, from Jesus Christ Superstar in 2005, Fame, Wizard of Oz, We Will Rock You and more recently, Anything Goes.

HSAP’s latest production is a passionate, energetic and inspirational story of 17 hopefuls auditioning for a broadway show. In the show, Helen plays Connie – the shortest in stature of the line-up who is always cast as a child when in fact she is 32! Helen takes part in many of the numbers in the show including I Hope I Get It and the hugely popular One (singular sensation).

Tickets for A Chorus Line, which shows at Harrogate Theatre from May 20 to 24, are available from the box office on 01423 502116 priced £10 to £15.
