A STARBECK firm has won a prestigious award for its highly-rated pork pies.
Elite Meat achieved a much-desired one star Gold Great Taste Award for its prime Yorkshire Pork Pie, made with free range local pork.

The Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, and often referred to as the Oscars of the food industry, this year celebrate their 15th anniversary.

The gold and black logo of the award is recognised increasingly by consumers and marks a high standard in Britain’s fine food sector.

A delighted Gordon Atkinson from Elite Meat Ltd said: “What a wonderful achievement, a Great Taste Award for our Prime Yorkshire Pork Pie.

“Success we must put down to the quality of raw ingredients, free range pork from Easingwold and flour milled at Knottingley and also to my loyal, talented team of butchers and bakers. Without them there would be no Elite Meat.

“We hope to further the campaign for Yorkshire Pork when we represent Yorkshire at the Champion of Champions Sausage competition in London later this year so wish us luck.”
