THE Angels of Staveley have finally left All Saints' Church.
The innovative fund-raising exhibition opened on June 14 for one month initially, but was extended due to popular demand, eventually closing at the end of December last year.

Visitors from all over North Yorkshire and beyond came to see the 59 life-sized Angels designed and painted by Holmfirth-based artist, Celia Kilner with many visitors returning several times.

Comments in the visitors book reflect how wonderful the Angels looked, adding to the beauty and tranquillity of the church.

Church Treasurer, Em Lloyd-Davies said: “The event was far more successful than the committee could ever have imagined.

“It was judged to be one of the most innovative church fundraising events in a national competition and raised a fantastic £22,437.

“The funds will be used specifically for major repairs to the church building including the East window.

“I would like to thank all the sponsors and everyone who has supported the Angels.”
