HARROGATE Ladies' College is to be featured on the popular BBC TV programme Cash in the Attic, but in a twist to the show's usual format the cash the school raises will go straight to its favourite charity.
Cash in the Attic usually helps householders turn their long-forgotten treasures into money for themselves but when Harrogate Ladies' College approached them to do a charity episode, the BBC was keen to help.

Pupil Lucy Smith and headmaster Geoff Hazell will be stars of the programme, to be broadcast next week.

They were guided through the filming by TV presenter and personality Angela Rippon.

Lucy said: "I had an amazing day with the film crew, it's really interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes, it's hard work and not all glamour but still a lot of fun."

The college had 15 items to auction which included two rustic chairs that date back to the 19th century, an oak Mule Chest, an early 18th century sideboard and a wall-mounted Georgian Corner Cupboard.

The auction to be featured in the programme took place at Thompson's Auctioneers of Hampsthwaite and the money raised from the auction will be presented to Springwater School in Starbeck.

Harrogate Ladies' College has supported the Springwater School for children with learning disabilities for many years and the money raised will help to buy new equipment.

Cash in the Attic featuring Harrogate Ladies' College will be on BBC1 on Wednesday May 21.
