PROPOSALS for a skate park for teenagers are to be revisited over the summer, with a list of 19 potential sites being put forward for consideration.
Harrogate Borough Council has agreed to look all the sites it has previously investigated, fulfilling a promise made at a heated public meeting in March when residents told the council to reconsider developing the Stonefall Park site next to the ceme
tery on Wetherby Road.
The full group of 19 sites is now out for public comment and the council is inviting everyone to have their say on the plans. The results of the consultation will be reported to the council's Cabinet in July.
The Stonefall Park site is included in the long list, as well as sites in the town centre, Jennyfields and Valley Gardens.
Coun Pat Jones, cabinet member for cultural services, said: "We have investigated a number of outdoor sites over the years and have included them all again. But, for clarity, I should add that some of them would have to be discounted. A section of Claro Road allotments for instance was an area that was not used when we first considered it but now it has been brought into allotment use and has contracted tenants on it."
The full consultation is available at www.harrogate.gov.uk/harrogate-5349. Hard copies of the questionnaire are available from Vanessa Peers on 01423 556733. Comments can be made either on line or by posting to Harrogate Borough Council, department of community services, Brandreth House, St Lukes Avenue, Harrogate, HG1 2AA.
The closing date for comments is Friday, July 13.
