A MARTIN House parent who benefited from the hospice's respite stays during her son's battle with cancer is taking part in "Jane Tomlinson's Run for All" to raise money for other sick children.
Judith Isayenkova's son Elijah was diagnosed with terminal cancer in summer 2005, when he was three months old.

Judith said: "We used Martin House for respite weekends and had a wonderful time as a family.

"Sadly, Elijah died in March 2006, aged nine months, and again, Martin House provided immense support and comfort throughout the last days of his life and our early stages of bereavement.

"After his death, I took up running again which was – and still is – very therapeutic."

Judith signed up to take part in last year's "Run for All", which fell on Elijah's second birthday, and decided to run it with her sister Britta to raise money for Martin House.

"I felt I was able to give a little bit back to all the wonderful, dedicated people working there as well as the special children they look after, and their families," Judith said.

After completing the ten kilometre run, the pair decided to make their participation an annual event, and an ongoing gift to Martin House.

This year's race takes place on June 22. To join Judith and Britta on the start-line and raise money for Martin House, contact Caroline Roberts on 01937 844569.
