A HARROGATE woman has been crowned North Yorkshire's 'Loveliest Lollipop Person' in a competition run by Warburtons bakers.
Maureen Greensit was nominated for her commitment to helping children at Bilton Grange Primary keep safe when travelling to and from school.

The announcement follows an appeal by Warburtons to parents, children, schools and carers across Yorkshire and the Humber to nominate their favourite school crossing patrol, as part of the family baker's competition.

Maureen was nominated as Bilton Grange Primary wanted to say a big thank you for all her hard work.

The school nominated Maureen because she has kept children safe on a busy stretch of road on Bilton Lane for many years and she is friendly and kind hearted and always has a smile.

The school also said she was a great help as she has another role as a lunch time supervisor and helps out with school discos.

Maureen has been presented with a special breakfast hamper full of Warburtons goodies as a prize.

Tom Sugden, Sales Manager for Warburtons Yorkshire, said: "We have met many lovely school crossing patrols through our 'Use your loaf initiative'.

"Come rain or shine they are there to support their school. This is our way of saying 'thank you' and 'keep up the great work!'"

North Yorkshire County Council Executive Member, Coun John Fort BEM, said: "I am delighted and proud that Maureen has received such a compliment from the school pupils, families and staff at Bilton CP School.

"Maureen is a perfect representative of all our school crossing patrol officers whose daily presence makes such a difference to hundreds of children and families walking to school in North Yorkshire every day."
