Applicants who live or study within a 30-mile radius of the town will be invited to enter the beauty pageant with the eventual winner moving through to the northern semi-finals of Miss England.

The first phase will require competitors to attach two images, one head and shoulders and another full length which will be sent to judges via the event website.

Applicants must be aged between 17 to 24 and not be married or have a child.

Successful entries will then be invited to attend an informal audition with the 30 finalists competing for the Miss Harrogate title in late March.

The final winner will then battle against beauty queens from the York and Scarborough area in the northern semi-finals to be held in June.
"I think there will be a positive response," said event organiser Vivienne Lee.

"There are lots of lovely entrants we're sure in Harrogate and we want to have three great representatives from North Yorkshire.

"We've got four entries already and that's just through people looking at the website so we expect a lot more people to enter.

"We have chosen Harrogate because of the amount of interest we received last year. Then we had entries from Harrogate for Miss York so that shows people are interested in the competition."

Harrogate has been chosen after the success of North Yorkshire contestants from York and Scarborough in last year's competition.
Eventual Miss England winner, Georgia Horsley, from Norton-on-Derwent emerged victorious, having qualified for the final as a photographic heat winner.

She later represented England at the 57th Miss World pageant held in Sanya, China in December.
