Gun crime unsurprisingly low

GUN crime in North Yorkshire is the lowest in the country, according to new national figures.
Statistics published by the Home Office state that during 2008/09 there was only 1.4 firearms offences per 100,000 population in North Yorkshire and the City of York – more than 10 times lower than the national average.

During this period there were a total of 11 firearms offences reported in the whole of the county. This represents a 35per cent fall from 2007/08.
