FIRE engines rushed to the secene of a potentially massive fire at Tockwith-based BCB Environmental Management last night.
A security officer at the Marston Moor Business Park reported seeing clouds of smoke coming from BCB's premises on the Marston Moor Business Park near the village around 7.15pm.

Wetherby Fire Station crew manager Andy Wilkinson said a skip containing general waste disposal was on fire inside one of BCB's main buidings.

He said: "We put it out and luckily none of the drums containing hazardous materials were affected.

"The fire could have been very nasty because of the mix of chemicals and solutions inside the building up there."

Fire engines from Tadcaster, York, Acomb, Harrogate and Knaresborough all arrived on the scene as a precaution.

No one was inside the building at the time of the incident.

A BCB Environmental spokesman said it is believed the fire started by spontaneous combustion although investigations are still ongoing.
