Boroughbridge and District Historical Society
The April meeting was treated to a unique presentation on Cleveland by Stuart MacMillan from Skelton, when he presented a series of excellent detailed paintings depicting the defence sites and the events which took place in the North East during the First and Second World Wars.

Using photographs, site visits, war office records, plans and drawings, he has pieced together images of how the site or events would have looked at that time which, together with anecdotes from oral history, made an exciting and informative talk.

The next meeting of the society will be a visit to Markenfield Hall. For further details or a copy of the newsletter, please contact the secretary on 01423 322988.
