HARROGATE police have thanked public-spirited residents in Darley for helping them catch a vandal who smashed an unattended parked car with a baseball bat.
Inspector Shaun Sutcliffe said that without the help of the public his officers would not have been able to arrest the man responsible within minutes of the attack.

Several witnesses saw the incident on Meadow Lane, Darley around midnight on June 3rd and called police who managed to stop the vandal and recover the baseball bat.

“It’s a perfect example of the public working in partnership with the police and there’s no doubt that without the public’s help we would not have caught this person,” he said.
