MEDIA group Barker Brooks is giving young people an online behind-the-scenes insight into its operations as part of a new diploma course being launched in September.
The firm has welcomed the cameras into its Harrogate headquarters so that students can see what it’s really like to work in the world of media.

Interviews with staff at Barker Brooks will feature in online support material for the new Media and Cr
eative diploma, one of a range of new 14-19 diplomas being launched this autumn.

The Harrogate media company has teamed up with Yorkshire youth careers company u-xplore to promote the diplomas and support students.

U-xplore interactive uses video clips, 360 degree tours and moving graphics in its online educational materials, which have been praised by education watchdog Ofsted.

“Barker Brooks and u-xplore share a similar ethos – we both aim to educate and inspire young people in their career choices, and we both communicate with them in a way they can appreciate and relate to,” commented Lucy Barker, Chief Executive of Barker Brooks.

“These new diplomas will provide yet another option, helping young people to fulfil their potential and play a positive role in the workplace.”

Barker Brooks Media launched the schools magazine, etc, five years ago and in 2006 it went on to launch the only comprehensive-printed reference guide to apprenticeships in England.
