THE General Manager of the Yorkshire Event Centre was elected as the new president of Harrogate Chamber of Trade and Commerce this week.
Robert Whiteley succeeded Granville Simpson at Monday’s AGM. David Horth, Mark Lancaster & Stuart Pearson were elected as vice-presidents, Mark Hunter as treasurer and Neil Goodrum as legal adviser.

Mr Whiteley said he wanted to build on the success of the last year. He said: “The Chamber’s position has never been stronger. Its level of membership, standing in the community, financial position and status as the only voice for business in Harrogate are better than they have ever been.

“This is thanks largely to the determination, passion and vision of the chief executive and honorary secretary Brian Dunsby, whose recently announced Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion is a well earned recognition of a lifetime's achievements in support of business.

“The executive and management committee will continue to build on this success and ensure that Harrogate Chamber continues to go from strength to strength.”
