ASH Mahmood, who when he arrived in England from Pakistan as a ten-year-old 18 years ago could not speak a word of English, has qualified as a solicitor with Harrogate-based law firm Berwins.
"Learning English was certainly a bit tough at the start," said Ash, who lives in Leeds and is a keen cricketer, playing for Leeds Police Cricket Club. When he passed his GCSE 'A' levels he took up business studies and accountancy but then decided he had more of a liking for law.

He joined Berwins two years ago from Bradford solicitors Drydens and is working with Chris Newton, Berwins dispute resolution partner.

"Ash's solid and systematic approach to cases and excellent negotiating skills make him an asset to both Berwins and our clients," said Mr Newton.

HARROGATE'S Platinum Print Ltd has appointed an additional Sales Representative to its growing team.

Christine Moorey is a new addition to the Platinum sales force.

Sales manager Andrew Hudson said: "The fact she lives in Harrogate and has over 20 years experience in printing means she knows both the area and the industry very well and she will be a great addition to our business."
