DIGITAL marketing specialist Magnitude has been acknowledged as one of the best in the world at this year's Webby Awards, scooping two top accolades.
The 17-strong Harrogate business found out this week that it has won two awards for its work with restaurant chain Wagamama.

Founder and CEO Tony Humphreys is now preparing to travel to New York next month to collect the Peoples Voice award for its work with Wagamama and the Webbys own award for its Me and My Bod promotional site.

Magnitude was the only British agency outside London to be shortlisted for the awards, which are known in the industry as the online Oscars.

It was also one of only two website firms globally to receive multiple nominations in a single category.

This year’s awards received nearly 10,000 entries from over 60 countries and Magnitude’s fellow nominees included Apple, the BBC, MTV and a host of the biggest global brands and creative agencies.

The Webby Awards are presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, a 550-strong body whose members include Richard Branson, Simpsons creator Matt Groening and musician David Bowie.

Tony Humphreys said: “These awards are the biggest in the business. This is a terrific achievement for the team.

“We have worked with Wagamama for several years to develop an innovative and truly interactive online presence and these awards are a sign that we have produced an industry-leading product.”

He said the awards were a credit to his team, who were in Zurich launching a new global website for Wagamama when they heard the news. The 12th Annual Webby Awards will be held in New York City on June 10.
